Join a good cause to share your homebrew with the public! This year held at Forgotten Star on October 6, join homebrew clubs from across Minnesota to pour your beer, mead, cider, or other homebrew. The people that come and drink donate money that goes towards a good cause. And new this year is a special Alpha Kings event!

Entrants in Alpha Kings NBA will be given Columbus Cryo hops from Yakima Chief Hops to use as the featured ingredient in their beer. The guidelines are listed below.

Requirements Parameters

• >55 IBU calculated (Beersmith, Brewer’s Friend, etc)

• That’s it! No style guidelines will be used in judging

Requirements Ingredients

• Feature Columbus Cryo Hops

• No restrictions in additional hops, malts, and yeast strains

• Please note if any potential allergens

Judging Criteria (50 points)

• Appearance (5 points)

• Aroma (10 points)

• Columbus Cryo Hop Presence (15 points)

  • Citrus

  • Dank

  • Earthy

  • Woody

• Enjoyment (20 points)

  • I’d order a full pint

  • That’s a great beer

  • Please sir, may I have another

• This is a primitive site so no electricity.
  • Water is a manual pump well.
  • Bathroom facilities are outhouses/vault toilets.
• There is a main parking area for campers; shaded grassy tent areas are scattered throughout the woods/grounds
• We are on Cass lake with lake/beach access.  In the past, the beach has always been sandy and swimming has been great.
• We are in a forest with many trees so there is shade but bringing portable shelters is still not a bad idea as congregation happens in open areas
• There is a large open sided picnic shelter for meals and general shelter from sun and rain
• We will be getting a load of firewood for the weekend that should cover us all
• A jockey box will be available if you’re bringing kegs.  Of course, bottles, growlers and any other beer containers are encouraged.
  • There are 6 taps so plenty of space.
