T-minus 1 week till the Holiday Party. Hope you have your potluck recipes in order to win some great giftcards this year (we have an addition to our usual award!).

Holiday Party in 2 Weeks

We know you are detoxing from the holiday and new year festivities – but here at MHBA we are just getting started! The holiday party is January 17th at Forgotten Star.

Bring your best pot luck dish, your favorite people, and of course some tasty homebrew to share!

Setup will start around 5:30 pm with teardown at 9:30 pm

Socializing will be from 6 – 7:00 pm

Buffet-style food service will begin at 7:00 pm

Raffles with gift cards occurring throughout the night

What to bring

Food: Come with a potluck dish to share (bonus points for being prepared with a beer, cider, or mead). Make sure to bring serving utensils and an extension cord if needed.

A “People’s Choice” award will be given for the best potluck dish with beer, cider, or mead as an ingredient with voting going on throughout the night.

Plates, napkins, and silverware will be provided.

Beer/Cider/Mead/Wine to share: Bring any beer, mead, or cider that you wish to share. Bottles, growlers, and kegs are welcome. Don’t forget a small tasting glass—some plastic glasses will be available in case of emergency. The club will provide our jockeybox for use.

What? Remember to bring a tasting glass. Really. You should bring a tasting glass.

Even better if you put your name on it for the inevitable “I lost my tasting glass”.

Family and Friends: This is a family-friendly event, so bring your significant other, kids, and/or any friends/family that have ever expressed an interest in homebrewing or beer. As this is one of the most attended gatherings of the year, it’s a great opportunity to get out and meet your fellow homebrewers. If you have not made it to a meeting or would like to join the club, the Holiday potluck is a perfect chance to try some great homebrew and delicious food, and exchange homebrew with others.

I know everyone is getting ready for a Thanksgiving feast, but don’t forget the true MVP of the holidays is on January 17 6PM at Forgotten Star Brewery. You know I am talking about the holiday party.

2025 Cider Buy

October 15, 2025

Short notice, but we are having the CIDER buy again this year on November 1st.

Location is Minnetonka at a private residence.
Payment must be completed by 10/26/25 at 3 pm.

Meeting at Modist Brewing September 27th

MHBA Holiday Party Scheduled

The MHBA Holiday Party has been scheduled for Jan 17! 6PM at Forgotten Star Brewery per usual, the best event of the year.

Iron Brewer Winning Tripel Release Party

August 20, 2025

Next Thursday, August 28th, Brandon’s Iron Brewer winning Tripel will be released! Come out to Hackamore to enjoy the beer fresh from the taps.

Brew for Good 2025

July 27, 2025

Is anybody from the club interested in participating in this years Brew for Good (now called Rock the Block) on September 27th? It is for a great cause!

Some requirements:

Required to serve from a jockey box or bottles/cans – the club representatives must pour for festival attendees
You get access to YCH Hops for Alpha Kings competition
One tap handle represented in Alpha Kings (details on this in the Alpha Kings communication
Need to signup prior to Aug 15
Need list of beverages by September 1
Must be at the event to pour

Requirements Parameters

Feature Cascade Cryo Hops
>40 IBU calculated (Beersmith, Brewer’s Friend, etc)
That’s it! No style guidelines will be used in judging
Please note if any potential allergens

Club Judging Criteria

Each club will be provided enough hops for 6 entrants
Club members will judge the 6 entrants and decide a club winner
- Rock the block will be “favorite of the 6” so take that into club judging consideration
Club winner will be the representative at Rock the Block

Rock the Block Judging Criteria

Attendees of Rock the Block that visit the Homebrew Pavillion in the festival will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite via voting chips
- from the 6 representatives (one from each club)

Monthly Meeting 7/20 at Trove Brewing

It has been a while, but we have a meeting coming up this Sunday July 20th Noon at Trove Brewing Company!

We don’t have an educational topic this month, but feel free to bring homebrew, discuss your State Fair entries, and have a great time with fellow homebrewers!
